For decades, we’ve been conditioned to think of software as something we go to. We open a laptop, we look at a screen, we type into a box. Even the first wave of Generative AI followed this rule: it lived behind a glass wall, waiting for us to visit.

In early 2026, that wall is shattering.

We are entering the era of Externalized AI. This is the moment where intelligence stops being a destination and starts becoming an environmental layer. From "Digital AI" (moving pixels), there’s a shift to "Externalized AI" (moving reality).

The Leakage of Intelligence

When we see the latest robotics demos at CES 2026, or marvel at the list of new physical AI models that NVIDIA has just released, or watch autonomous systems navigating through a warehouse, what we are witnessing is AI "leaking" out of the screen.

But for most businesses, breaking the screen doesn't require a billion-dollar humanoid robot. It happens when an AI agent can finally perceive and act upon the unstructured physical world:

  • The Sight: Extracting meaning from a grainy photo of a shipping container or a hand-annotated blueprint.
  • The Sound: Processing the nuances of a live site-inspection voice memo to trigger a safety protocol.
  • The Action: Not just writing an email, but navigating a complex, multi-step supply chain workflow that results in a physical delivery.

The Architecture of the Last Mile

The challenge of Externalized AI is that the physical world is, well, messy. For an AI to be useful outside of a clean lab environment, it has to be "ruggedized" against the chaos of everyday business. We aren't just talking about factory floors; we’re talking about the hand-annotated medical discharge papers that a nurse scribbles on in a rush, or the crumpled utility bills pulled from a pocket for a KYC verification.

This is where traditional software fails, but where agentic perception thrives. These systems are now capable of peering through grainy doorbell camera footage to verify a delivery or navigating extreme weather: processing data through fog, snow, or heat shimmer that would blind a standard sensor. Whether it's reading a serial number partially obscured by rust or mud on a piece of field equipment or reconciling a faded, coffee-stained invoice, modern agents use multimodal reasoning to fill in the blanks. It’s less about “seeing” an image and more about inferring the intent behind it. By reading the context of the mess, these agents allow a digital brain to execute with a level of precision that used to require a human on-site.

Building the Bridge at NextNeural

To work under these circumstances, being a Large Language Model is not good enough; an AI has to be a Large Action Model.

We built the NextNeural ecosystem to act as that bridge. While the tech world is largely obsessed with better chatbots, our focus is on the underlying nervous system, the layer that actually allows an AI to step out of the screen and into a physical workflow.

  1. Multimodal Perception As a Standard: Our agents "read", yes, but they also "see" and "hear." By integrating advanced OCR and Audio-to-Insight agents, we let AI interact with the artifacts of your physical business, from paper invoices to verbal agreements.
  2. Sovereign Edge Deployment: Externalized AI needs to be where the action is. NextNeural’s ability to run on private infrastructure means your physical data—your warehouse feeds, your private meetings—never has to leave your four walls to become “smart.”
  3. Agentic Interactivity: We’ve moved from Prompt → Response to Goal → Execution. Our agents are designed to bridge the gap between a digital command and its physical-world result.

The 2026 Mandate

In 2026, a perfect prompt is hardly going to be a competitive advantage. The real winners will be the teams that successfully move AI out of experimental chat windows and hard-wire it into their physical operations.

The screen is soon going to be a window into what your agents are doing out in the world.

What’s New in AI

AI Takes Centerstage at Davos 2026

At Davos 2026, the AI conversation centered on the shift from isolated pilots to agentic AI and the urgent need for a "human-in-the-lead" approach. NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang identified energy and electrical grid capacity as the primary bottlenecks to build out AI infra, while others called for global safety standards and "corporate AI sovereignty" to ensure data and trust remain under human control.

India Set to Host the India–AI Impact Summit in February 2026 to Level the Playing Field for the Global South

The India–AI Impact Summit is an international event that will focus on democratizing AI particularly for the Global South. Scheduled for February 16–20, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, the summit aims to pivot global AI dialogue from high-level policy discussions to practical, inclusive, and actionable impact.

Gemini Launches ‘Personal Intelligence’ to Reason Across Google Apps

Google just launched Personal Intelligence, a new beta feature that lets Gemini reason across apps like Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search data to deliver more personalized responses without users needing to specify which app to pull from. With this, Google is tapping into something its AI rivals will always struggle to match: billions of users already living inside these apps.

Ads Are Officially Coming to ChatGPT

OpenAI just announced it will begin testing targeted advertisements in ChatGPT for free and Go tier users in the U.S., putting into motion a major monetization shift. Ads in AI assistants are a slippery slope, so the execution will be a moment to watch.

Physical AI Gets a Boost with Holographic AI Companionship

CES 2026 saw multiple companies demo holographic AI companions styled as anime characters, as consumer products. AI chat companions already dominate usage metrics on mobile, but CES moved them into physical space. This raises questions around attachment risk, data intimacy, and hardware lock in. This is no longer a $20 app; it is a $500 object on your desk.

Anthropic Publishes Claude’s Constitution, while Enabling Claude to Run Inside Excel

Anthropic published an expansive new version of Claude’s Constitution, a 23,000-word "living document" that establishes a four-tier priority hierarchy—prioritizing safety first, followed by ethics, adherence to company guidelines, and finally, helpfulness. Simultaneously, Anthropic launched the Claude for Excel integration which allows Claude to run directly within a Microsoft Excel sidebar, where it can analyze complex multi-tab workbooks, write formulas, and perform advanced financial modeling.

Moonshot AI Announces the Launch of Kimi K2.5

China’s Moonshot AI unveiled its newest artificial intelligence model, Kimi K2.5, a 1-trillion parameter Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model. Its standout feature is a dual-mode system: an "Instant Mode" for low-latency chat and a "Thinking Mode" that scales test-time compute to handle PhD-level reasoning, complex coding, and strategic research. This update introduces native multimodality, allowing the model to process and generate vision, language, and audio, with users reporting capabilities like generating 3D models from photos and creating functional web products in a single shot.

DeepSeek Releases DeepSeek-OCR 2, a Model That Can Read Images Like Humans

DeepSeek-OCR 2, released January 27, 2026, is a 3B-parameter model utilizing "Visual Causal Flow" and "DeepEncoder V2" to process visual data in a human-like sequence based on semantic meaning. This technology improves accuracy by 3.73% and enables efficient processing of complex layouts using a Mixture-of-Experts architecture.

NVIDIA and CoreWeave Announce the Buildout of AI Factories

NVIDIA and CoreWeave announced a partnership to accelerate the development of "AI factories" globally. This collaboration aims to build over 5 gigawatts of specialized AI computing capacity by 2030, with CoreWeave deploying NVIDIA's next-generation architectures, including the Rubin platform and Vera CPUs.

Microsoft Rolls Out Maia 200, the Next-Gen AI Chip

Microsoft announced Maia 200 on January 26, 2026, as its second-generation custom AI accelerator designed to improve inference costs and reduce reliance on third-party hardware. Fabricated on TSMC’s 3nm process, the chip features over 140 billion transistors and includes 216GB of HBM3e, offering over 10 petaflops of FP4 performance and reportedly providing 30% better performance-per-dollar than current hardware. The chip is already being used for services like Microsoft 365 Copilot and OpenAI’s GPT-5.2.
